Asian Diabetes: Cause, Challenges, and Health Care Reform

Asian Indians are twice as likely to develop Type 2 diabetes compared with the general population in the United States. Asian diabetes epitomizes our current struggle in providing adequate care for chronic diseases because of human, social, and economic challenges.  This paper was presented at the ISGP Signature Series conference “Food Security and Diet-linked Public Health Challenges,”  convened Sept. 20-23, 2015, in Fargo, North Dakota, U.S., in cooperation with North Dakota State University.
