ISGP Podcast: Curricular Conundrum
The difficult, exacting art of science communication is complicated by disinterest, mistrust, and lack of understanding from the public writ large. Science education from kindergarten through college bears some of the responsibility for this. Could curricular reform help improve society’s necessary relationship with science, asked debaters of the policy paper Improving Effective Science Communication, by Dr. William Hallman, Professor and Chair of the Department of Human Ecology at Rutgers University. His paper was debated at the August 2015 conference Communicating Science for Policy, convened in Durham, North Carolina, in cooperation with Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.
